In the most novel political alliance since former Houston Rocket Steve Francis endorsed Muriel Bowser, attorney general hopeful Karl Racine has landed the support of Maryland attorney general Doug Gansler.

District voters may best remember Gansler as the “cool dad” attorney general caught at the best underage beach party ever. But Gansler, a former gubernatorial candidate whose ticket came in a distant second in Maryland’s Democratic primary earlier this year, has some nice things to say about Racine.

“I can think of no one better to serve as the people’s lawyer in D.C.,” Gansler says in a press release from Racine’s campaign.

This isn’t the first time that Racine has touted his support among other attorneys general. At a candidate forum yesterday, Racine pointed to his appearance at a meeting of Democratic attorneys general as evidence that he’s qualified for the job.
