If your looking for the old-fashioned chowderhouse look with good seafood, especially blue crabs dishes, this is the place. The booths are in a smallish all-tiled room or you can eat at the bar-like part of the restaurant.

We go to Crisfield for the seafood. There are more expensive places in and around DC, but if you know what to order, Crisfield gives more bank for your buck.

What to order:
Crab Imperial, Stuffed Shrimp, Crisfield Special, Crab Cocktail, Fried Oysters, Stuffed Flounder, and any thing from the raw bar.

On a cold day, order Seafood Bisque, or Clam Chowder -- Yummm!

If you order from the raw bar, ask for "Ned" sauce.

It is more fun to sit at the bar and watch these great people work. On cold days sit away from the door. (There is usually a lot of traffic going in and out.) There are "light Fare" versions of many of the more popular dishes. The fries and coleslaw make great side dishes.

The wait staff behind the counter are very knowledgeable about the fresh seafood they serve and ensure you always have a fresh drink and condiments. For the quality of the oysters, perch sandwich, cole slaw, and the best fries in town, Crisfields is a must see and eat.

Crisfield is an old standard in Silver Spring, but you have to know what to order. Anything with crab: good! Anything fresh shucked, like clams and oysters: very good! Don't miss the seafood bisque and the crab imperial is to die for. I have been eating at Crisfield for 30 plus years and it is the standard by which all other seafood restaurants are judged, in my opinion.

Why do people continue to come here? They say it's a Silver Spring institution, but really, why? I had the fried combination and everything was really well sized, but the flavor was NOT there. It was completely bland. The same with the broiled scallops my husband had (which came in a bowl of water, which seems contrary to the rules of broiling scallops well?) My friends really enjoyed their crisfield special (crab imperial type dish), and the best thing on my plate was the crabcake. The service was awesome and $8 dollar pitchers were great, but there is no way I would ever come back here.
