I used to live close to this restaurant. The food is mostly vegetarian, and they have some creative options. The ambiance is a little weird since the place attracts a lot of counterculture freaks being a vegetarian organic place, and since it lacks adequate heat in the winter. The food was fine, though overpriced for what it is. Each time I ate there, I left still feeling hungry. You don't have problems with that eating good old fashioned steak and mashed potatoes.

Being an omnivore I frequented this small cafe mostly to do some light organic shopping. Usually after a burger fest and the need to cleanse my palate with something a little less guilty. I went in to buy some tea but was enchanted by the smell of curry from the quaint kitchen in the back. The scent wafted me into ordering curried tofu and a lemonade. I had NEVER had tofu before and from what I saw on TV hadn’t been missing much. I could not have been more wrong! This was the best curry anything I had ever tasted. The use of textures was truly amazing and I have been a faithful fan ever since. As a meat eater I was a temporary convert to vegetarianism and couldn’t wait until the next encounter.

A blast from the past! The last time I ate here the staff, the clientčle, and I had much more hair. It's still no frills, organic/veggie food prepared with care, but the attitude is now matter-of-fact rather than avant-guard. The art on the walls is more new age than psychedelic, the music World rather than Rock, but the menu is pretty much the same. The special of the day, stuffed cabbage, had a spicy, thick tomato sauce, savory grain/nut/bean filling, and a perfectly tender-crisp wrapper served over al dente brown rice. The accompanying salad had a nice mix of ingredients, with noticeably more texture and flavor than mainstream offerings. Fresh squeezed lemonade was tart and pulpy. All and all a fine break from your carnivorous habits.

The Berwyn Care is a small restaurant in College Park a short distance from Route 1. They have a simple vegan menu and a daily special. The Tempeh Burger is my favorite dish there. Tempeh, for those of you who are not vegetarian, tempeh is a fermented soybean cake with a nutty, chewy texture. They also have tofu gyros (it looks just like the animal gyro on a spit, but without harming anyone), tofu steaks, falafel, salad, and other simple delights.

If you are a vegetarian, you must eat here.

OK, so I can't believe no one has rated this obviously undiscovered gem hidden away on Berwyn Road. I have been going here for 3 years, and would HIGHLY recommend it to Veg-heads like me, Vegans, and even carnivores...and I have directed a few their way with great results. The owners are a husband and wife and are wonderful and family focused. The place used to be Beautiful Day Trading Company. If you are into ambiance and fine china dining...GET OVER IT. It's low frills and justly proud of it. I would recommend calling ahead for lunch as they are busy. Try the Sampler Platter for a feel for what they serve. Everything is fresh and you can see into the kitchen..which is refreshing. The Sunday meal is brunch only. Get there early as the place starts rockin' at noon. Can't say enough good things about this place. Puts Mark and his erstwhile Kitchen to shame. If this place opened in Takmoma Park, Mark would be flipping burgers at Wendy's tomorrow.
