Food came out cold, was rewarmed in microwave (staff even warmed Lettuce). Pho contained a metal S hook that is used to hang pots. Staff refused to take back soup.
Neighbor's food contained a small dime-sized ceramic object similar to a piece of a china plate or finger nail.
All dishes tasted horribly, service was non-existent. This is by far the WORST restaurant experience I have ever had in the MD/VA/DC area. Should be shut down or burned to the ground.

My boyfriend is a Pho lover and he chows the stuff down whenever we go there, but its not the best he's ever had. I am a vegetarian so i get the Sup Chay and am very pleased with it. the broth is good, there are plenty of veggies and noodles and it fills me up for a cheap price! we've also gotten the vegetable spring rolls and those are good too. its really easy to get to metro wise and its not hidden like many of the more traditional pho places out there. i've gone here twice and will go again.

I totally disagree with the other reviewers on this place. This place is not an authentic pho place a'tall. As a long-time pho eater & lover, I thought the pho here was not good at all. Although we were there at dinner-time and only ate pho (more of a breakfast/lunch meal) the restaurant calls itself a pho place so I thought it would be decent. Wrong. The accompanying mung bean sprouts, lime and chilis are supposed to come with holy basil for beef pho. There wasn't any, and when I asked for some, the waiter told me they didn't have any! A vietnamese restaurant specializing in pho with no basil?? Plus, the portions were awfully small for the price and the meat wasn't of very good quality. The broth was muddy and tasted watery.

Good Vietnamese food. Very inexpensive and does a fast trade and turn over.
The Pho is the highlight and must not be missed. Also one of the few places that serves quail around town.
Very enjoyable evening without draining the wallet.

What this place lacks in atmosphere, is completely made up for by the freshness and overall preparation of the food, which is consistently very good and inexpensive. My fave Vietnamese place in DC (suburbs have better though).

An overlooked gem right in the heart of Cleveland Park! The food's great, it's quick & inexpensive, and the service is solicitous as well. Not the greatest ambience, but a far better choice than most Asian alternatives in the neighborhood (especially the overrated Spices). What's not to like?

The setting is a little grand for the food, but the food is good and cheap. Don't expect it to match your fancy table and silverware however.

The only bad thing I would have to say about Nam Viet is the water in the mural on the back wall is uneven.
The food is delicious and quite popular among visitors, locals, and my dad - who is quite picky.
(I want to add that the high price of our bill was due to beer and appetizers.)

The grilled items at Nam Viet are wonderful.
The fried rice and stir fried dishes are a little bit hit or miss. Most of the caramelized dishes are good and the spring rolls are top notch. Every meal ends with a warm, citrus scented towel to cleanse the hands. A nice touch.

You will not find kinder, better waitstaff in DC. The food is incredible and affordable. We go there at least once a week. They have an extensive menu with lots of choices for different tastes. Make sure to try the vegetable garden rolls. There are plenty of vegetarian options and they are happy to adjust the dishes to your specifications.

I go here just for their spring rolls, but have yet to try another item on the menu that I didn't like. The food is light and a makes a great pre or post movie meal.
