I've been here several times. The food is usually excellent. The wait staff on the other hand, is always terrible. It's seems like they say, "No serving experience? You're hired!" Appetizers but no silverware, entrees but no plates, no follow-up, no dessert, but they never forget the check. The food is the only saving grace of this place. Proceed with caution.

If you're in Del Ray and are looking for a nice weekend breakfast joint, consider going to Fireflies. Last weekend I had friends visiting from out of town and we breakfasted at Fireflies and were happy with the experience. The food was very tasty and the menu was creative. They serve a breakfast pizza that is not only unique, it is quite good. They also serve a variety of benedicts and omlettes with high quality, fresh ingredients. Moreover, the atmosphere was quite nice. They even had a live bluegrass band! My only gripe was the slow service. Coffee refills were few and far in between, not to mention it took forever to get out food and our check. Nonetheless, Fireflies serves up a very solid breakfast, providing you're not in a hurry.

There was really slow service, despite the fact there weren't that many customers. The servers were pleasant, though. The food was good...I had the cremini sandwich, which was tasty. The potato salad was pretty bland, though.

I had a cheeseburger. It was very well executed. The fries were really good too. My wife had hummus and a salad. The salad was huge and had very nice ingredients. But it should have tasted a bit better than it did. Something in the dressing was lacking. The service was kind of spotty too: under-attention (why did the soup starter take so long) peppered with annoying over-attention (inane banter). Overall, though, no real complaints: this is good grub at reasonable prices with a fun atmosphere.

Fireflies has the feel of a neighborhood pizza place that has decided to go upscale. The offerings cater to those who want vegetarian options, though carnivores will have no trouble finding choices.
