one word - disgusting! We sat next to a fat women that ate a pile of fired pigs feat and organs of some sort. when we were given the silverware, there probbaly was a spoon in there somewhere if I took more time to search through the grease. Born and raised in chicago and there's a differenc between a good greasey spoon and a dump. You can guess which category the florida Ave. Grill falls into.

Great food, fairly cheap, nothing fancy. The deserts aren't worth the money, but the macaroni and cheese is amazingly good. My trout sandwich was in the standard crab shack style: fried fish on slices of white bread with lemon. The coffee was a little weak, but my cup was being constantly filled by a grandmotherly waitress, so I didn't mind much.

As an ex-pat Alabamian I've been looking for some good home cooking. While the inside reminded me of some of my favorites back home, the food didn't quite bring back the flood of memories I was hoping for. The portions were big, leftovers were a plus, but the food was nothing to write home about. The sweet potatoes were the star, completely sugar coated, the way all vegetables should be. And the true test of a meat and three or soul food joint, sweet tea, was pretty poor. All in all I decent experience, and one that I will repeat in order check more of the pictures and give the tea a second shot.

Breakfast is the best meal here with great grits, eggs, waffles and scrapple. The best part of the experience are the great celebrity photos that line the walls, is that a young Marion Berry looking down on the grill?
