Solid bar food, with a great little house salad.

Went here before a movie at Potomac Yards. There was a one-hour wait for a table, so we sat at the bar. The Jamaican Jerk Sirloin I had was actually pretty good, but my salad was awful (rock-hard tomato and iceburg lettuce) and my girlfriend's chicken sandwich was mediocre.
Prefer Don Pablos for a pre-movie dinner in the same shopping plaza.

Hops is pretty much what you'd expect from a micro-brewery chain. The beer is pretty good, the food is okay. The Hops Signature Pasta is very heavy, but tasty. Each meal comes with complimentary croissants drizzled with melted honey butter (that alone is worth the trip). There is a new twist on French onion soup - Hops bakes the soup with slow roasted short ribs which gives a good flavor to the broth. Most of the entrees are standard fare, there's nothing too fancy or fabulous here. Avoid the steaks, or at least be sure they don't cook them through to a rubbery mess. Hops isn't a bad place to stop before catching a movie at Potomac Yards, but it's no place for special occasions.
