Guapo's in Tenleytown is a realy nice place to get good quality Mexican food. The place is very comfortable, the service was great, and the food very good value for the money. The food was also quite authentic. If you're in the Tenleytown area it's worth checking out.

I finally managed to get in to Guapo's. The place was extremely loud and crowded (it was a Friday night). I got a hefty portion of food for a decent price. The steak in the tacos al carbon was really meaty and grilled to perfection. The rice and beans were okay, but not great. The guacamole was great and the nachos were light and crisp.

My only disappointment was with the sopaipilla. I went to the Southwest years ago and had one---it shapes like a pillow the size of a half loaf of bread. It was drizzled in honey and melted in your mouth. Guapo's sopaipilla was nothing more than bits of dough the size of Totino's pizza bites. They barely had honey on them and tasted like they were fried in chicken grease.

Hopefully I can go on another occasion when it's less crowded---if there is a time like that. (And I'll try another dessert on their menu.)

I have been to Guapo's in Gaithersburg countless times now and honestly, I have never been less than thrilled about my experience. The frozen margarita here is one of the best I've had in this area. The mariscada (seafood soup) tastes like pure heaven in soup form. The ceviche is another one of my favorites - so full of flavor. The fajitas are simply delicious and the variety offered in this arena is also great (the Cinco de Mayo platter is my favorite). The prices are all pretty reasonable. Last but not least, the service is consistently flawless. Overall, Guapo's is simply the highest quality casual tex- mex restaurant in the DC area that I've tried so far.

This defintely does not seem like authentic Mexican food, not really worth it if you want tasty food, but good ambience....good bar-like atomosphere...but don't expect real Mexican food here, because this is not the place. The chips don't seem homemade...now you'll always know if the restaurant is good if they make their own chips, and I don't think that they do. I wouldn't be surprised if I went into the kitchen and saw bags of Tostidos!

I am a big fan of their chicken nachos and beef fajitas, other things I have gotten before and they were not as good. Just remember that it is really easy to buy pitchers of margaritas and it could make the bill get really high. The food comes out so fast that the one time I ordered an appetizer was also the last.

I liked it but it's not as good as Alero on Connecticut Ave. in Cleveland Park and DuPont Circle. Stopped into Guapo's because it was close to other activities and I would put the food flavors at a distant second to Alero, which is in a world class beyond all other Mexican restaurants. That's another way of saying Guapo's is excellent, just not the very best which is pretty close by.

Guapo's is fun, relatively cheap and has overall good food. The problem is that lots of other people think so too, and it is often extremely crowded and unpleasant. If you don't mind waiting and can push your way to the bar, the drinks are good and the chips and salsa can keep you content for a while. The service is just OK. A fun place to go with friends if you don't mind all the people.

The meat served at Guapos is always delicious to its core. When the place is busy it can get crowded and a bit loud. Go there on a weeknight. Its great.

This is one of the family of restaurants owned by the same company. I'm not sure who owns them, but I think they do a good job. The other restaurants in the chain are Mi Rancho, Cactus Cantina, Cactus Grill, and I think I'm forgetting one, but you can always tell it's one of their restaurants, because they always have a tortilla-making machine next to the door, and they're always decorated the same. That aside, the food is really good. It appeals to the American tastebuds, and is reasonably priced, with a good selection of beers.

This was my second time eating here and it beat the first when i was too cold on the patio and not able to enjoy the food because of it.
