we had a really lovely meal here...the outside is charming and service was terrific! the chef created an amazing vegan meal for me off the menu and my boyfriend's shrimp dish was so good he was disappointed to be too full to finish it.

At my first and last visit to Chef Geoff's I was served a dish that could be charitably described as inedible: an over-dressed, over-seasoned calamari caesar salad in which the calamari had been dusted with sugar! Service was nonchalant, to say the least (my glass of wine came after my dinner was served). My advice: stay away.

I'm partial to the New Mexico Ave. location over the downtown one. The latter has a slightly more conventional menu and will cost you a few dollars more. But most importantly, it lacks my favorite appetizer of tuna sashimi over wonton crackers. The best value here is the Sunset Special (available until 6:30), a three-course meal you choose from a small selection of appetizers, entrees, and desserts. This is closely followed by the friendly wine menu, which includes a dozen choices each of whites and reds by the bottle for $25 or glasses for $7. In four or five meals there I've yet to encounter an entree that did not appeal. The dining room is attractive and warm, and the service is friendly. During warm weather, you can also dine out on the brick patio, although it can feel a little more cramped than inside. All in all it's a solid choice for dining with family, friends, or even a date.

For some reason the chef omitted the key ingredient in my pasta dish-bacon. I had to point this out and then they got it right. It was delicious, but that was a sort of weird event. Love this place on the whole as it can meet any kind of mood from casual fare to highbrow fare, same with excellent bar menu. Everything from organic Sam Smiths Ale to good ports. Always have had good service as well.

It was a great place to watch a ball game, eating apps and drinking beer. They had alternative beer selections which the bartenders are always willing to let you taste.

What a great neighborhood restaurant/bar! You can go casual or upscale-either works here. Don't know how they did it, but it worked for me. I'll be back. Excellent wine list and beer list to boot.

I am almost hesitant to give Chef Geoff's a good review, but for a selfish reason: its hard to get a table without waiting these days! We've been going to Chef Geoff's on a regular basis since it opened several years ago, and love it now as much as ever. A full three-course meal is on the pricey side, but is generally well worth it. More often, we sit at the bar and enjoy yummy stone pies and sandwiches that are quite reasonable for the size and quality. Chef Geoff's also has a diverse wine list --and bottles are a steal on half-price wine nights. There are several stellar waiters and bartenders that make the whole experience that much more enjoyable. And if chocolate ganache is on the dessert menu, don't pass it up.....

Beautiful outdoor patio.

I had been receiving flyers in the mail for this restaurant for awhile and was always very curious about it because they bill themselves as "DC's best outdoor dining" and "nominated best neighborhood restaurant in DC". I am a huge fan of the neighborhood style restaurant so I had to check this out. The restaurant is located in an "off the beaten path" neighborhood area of DC, which is nice in itself because being a DC native, I usually feel as if there is nothing I haven’t seen in this area. But when dining here, I almost felt as if I were dining out on vacation. The staff seemed to have a lot of younger people between the ages of 18 and 23 working. They were all very well trained, it added to the vibe as if it was a restaurant that had hired straight out of the neighborhood. I waited at the bar while waiting for my outside table. The bar had some very nice and rare import beers and the decor of the restaurant on the inside was very nice and subtle. The outside patio here is definitely the main attraction though and may be one of the best I have seen in the area. It’s dressed up with nice lights and classic umbrellas over the tables. Plus there are a couple huge trees above that keep you half covered and add to the elegant feel. The only thing is, the restaurant kind of sits off in a tiny strip mall and the patio it's on overlooks one of the main entrance areas to the shopping center. I ate there at night so I think most of the stores were closed, but I can imagine eating there during the day with a lot of shoppers around would take away considerably from the private eating experience. They had a smaller but very diverse menu. I think anyone could have found something to appreciate. Although I did leave feeling that the meal was a little on the expensive side for what I got. Considering I wasn't leaving with any leftovers. Overall, I feel this is a great place to take a date. Or a great place to relax and take family from out of town that has just arrived because the mood is very nice and comforting for great conversation.

The restaurant is very popular and has a noisy buzz of a happy, neighborhood dining room/bar. We are pretty tired of the menu, even though it is changed seasonally. It is pretty small and limited. There are no carb-friendly meals. (Stone pies, potatoes with main courses, no hefty protein menu.) Unfortunately, the service has gotten lousy.

Dessert was good- the cobbler and ice cream are always a good bet. But the rest of the meal was problematic. We had a salad with lemon vinaigrette--horrible! The dressing was just oil (couldn't taste any lemon) and nothing would help. Even the server said it was the worst on the menu. Then, why serve it?!
The duck breast was yummy but the spinach was covered in in sauce and you couldn't taste it. Big disappointment.
