This place is awesome.

The restaurant has an entire separate vegan menu, with incredible food. (You have to ask for it--if they just give you the regular menu, ask to see the vegan menu, too!) The vegan fried "chicken" sandwich is incredible.

The atmosphere is posh and always packed. And the frosted water glasses make you feel like you're eating in the lap of luxury.

I'm not a foodie but I love great food. My wife and I went to this restaurant and were disappointed. My idea of of a good restaurant is great food and a great atmosphere. Well they got the atmosphere but the food stinks. I was not impressed with my entree the Fried Chicken and Mac and Cheese with waffles. I have had better chicken at carry outs and the portions were meager. I also did not like the fact of a dine in restaurant serving soda in bottles and then charging for refills. If this restaurant is going to make it small comforts like soda refills and better menu choices are a must.

Pretty good place, in my opinion. The great food makes up for the less-than-ideal service. It almost seems like they are just understaffed and would do well to hire a couple of friendly waiters and waitresses who could pick up the slack. Highly recommend the fried chicken salad... Tastes totally fresh and delicious.

Friendly waiters and reasonable service. I'm a picky eater and was able to find food I liked on both visits. I had to wait quite a while for a table both times, much longer than the hostess predicted. I wasn't expecting the restaurant to be so "trendy" with a name like "Founding Farmers," but the ambiance was pleasant and creative. If you're looking for a more relaxed, quiet dining experience, request to be seated upstairs; the main floor of the restaurant is pretty noisy and a bit hectic at peak hours.

Awful Service !!! Mediocre food...
Bad waiter, food arrived randomly, waiter tasted our food when we asked what something was, waiter asked us a lot of questions, and told us to much about him, brought us the wrong drinks and was flip about it, and charged us for food we didn’t order and knew it. Stay away......

Disappointed is the catch-word of the day for Founding Farmers. How does this sound:
- Adjacent table less that 6" from ours;
- Dropped ball by the waitstaff -- "helpers" to your waiter miss drink order and extra bread and butter...and the second bottle of wine;
- Extreme noise from the bar filters up through the floor opening adjacent to the wine (and right behind me);
- Staff way too busy to service their tables.

The atmosphere was so unpleasant and the service so poor that we couldn't have enjoyed the food, even if our wine had ever been replenished (which it wasn't.)
Sorry, founding fathers, never again.

I've been to Founding Farmers about 5 or so times now, and overall I say its just OK. I like the idea that they source from sustainable farmers, organic, etc, but for the high quality of ingredients they supposedly use, I've never had an outstanding meal there.

I've eaten their salads, sandwiches, entrees, and many appetizers, and its been mixed every time. I've even repeated dishes I enjoyed the first time, and was downright disappointed the next time.

Some highlights for me were the Fried Chicken and Waffles, Egg Salad Sandwich, Late Harvest Salad, Fried Green Tomatoes, and of course the bacon lollipops. But even the bacon lollipops weren't as good the second time around.

I mistakenly ordered the skirt steak & cheese enchilada with mixed veg. Skirt steak was tough as old Harry. Enchilada was okay but probably could have gotten same quality out of the microwave.

Started with the bacon/blue cheese salad which was just a mess. Great hunks of rendered fat the size of hubba bubba and about the same consistency.

My companions fared better but nothing to write home or a review about.

Worst for me was from a rest. that pitches itself as using the best possible ingredients they served corn on the cob...in December...in the mid Atlantic.
