The food here is quite good, well priced, and it's not the "same old, same old" in terms of Medeterranean. The ambience is pleasant but not super swank. Like everything else in Adams Morgan I'm sure that it gets loud and crazy later on, but we ate there around 6ish and it was pretty low key. Someone said this place was a "Zaytinya Wannabe" but I'd beg to differ; it's been around longer and it's not trying quite so hard (no olive oil ice cream!) One of the restaurants in Adams Morgan that isn't just an excuse for a bar.

Meze provides a decent value compared to several other tapas/mezze style restaurants in DC. If you choose the right dishes, of course. Zucchini pancakes were good, but not as crispy as the ones I prepare myself, and a paltry serving given the $7 price. Red lentil soup was just the opposite - hearty, delicious, and filling, and very reasonably priced at $5. Vegetarian meatballs (also from a red lentil base)lack the spice or pizazz to make them anything special, as did the shepherd's salad, a plain blend of diced cucumber and tomato.
The apricot stuffed chicken was tasty, but overcooked, and the copious portion seemed mismatched with mashed potatoes and grilled red pepper and zucchini.
Drinks and mezze on the sidewalk are a good combination for Meze. The best bet is to come here before the weather turns cold enough to force you inside the dining area, where the cool tones of blue are just the right shade to make even the tastiest mezze less appealing.

Great food and service. In terms of mezze restaurants in the District Mezze is much better than Local 16 and not quite as good or varied as Zatinya.

Perfect place for going with friends and experimenting with a wide variety of plates without spending a ton of money. Some dishes work better than others - salmon-topped bruschetta was wonderful; deep-fried mussels served tempura-style, less so. But, with lots of options, you're sure to find enough to like to make a meal. Most of the staff was very friendly and accommodating as well (host, bartender, waiters).

While the menu items were interesting and unique, the food could have been prepared better. I had a Bosphorous Breakfast which consisted of a plate of assorted meats, cheeses and other mediterranean items like olives. The fresh items were quite tasty but the prepared items were dry and overcooked to near uselessness as was my friend's omellette.

Meze has a wonderful atmosphere, blending warm & cozy lighting with lounge-esque appropriate music. To me this one of the main reasons for coming here, enjoying some above-average Turkish cuisine, and lingering over drinks. To add to the enjoyment, the service has always been pleasant and helpful.
A great place to bring out-of-town guests for a memorable DC dining experience.

I prefer the dinner menu to the brunch, but the tropical salad was terrific and you get more boreks in an order than one person should normally eat.

It was so loud in there I had a headache when I left and it was very crowded. The food was less than acceptable, and it was brunch style eggs and stuff at a Turkish restaurant, I was expecting something completely different.

Nothing spectacular, but good solid food with nice waiters.

Been there a couple times and liked it each. Hip, sophisticated and good food. Great place to be adventurous.

A very nice Mediteranean restaurant. Most everything I had was a new experience for me. And it's kinda nice to have found a new place where I can get mojitos.

Meze is great for groups and anyone who wants to sample different menu items inexpensively. The ambience is fun for dinner with friends, but also romantic for dinner with dates. It can get a bit loud when the singing begins later on in the night, but if you don't mind noise, it is entertaining and a valuable part of the experience.

Amazing Turkish cuisine! As one would expect from the name, most of the menu is meze portions (small appetizers, similar to tapas): 4-5 mezes make dinner for two. Extensive selection and everything tasted great.

I like Meze, and have dined there often. The brunch they offer is great. They almost always have a drink special (I go for the $2 mimosas), as well as a variety of new cocktails that they are always perfecting. The coffee is great, as are the "muffins," if you will, that are served before the entrees arrive.
I love the eggs Florentine, the yolk is never over hard and the portion size, along with the home fries they are served with, is almost always filling. The Apollo sandwich (grilled chicken with red peppers, field greens and hummus, served on this fantastic bread) accompanied by crispy almost batter dipped tasting fries is always great.
The staff has always been pleasant and mannerly, though the same can not always be said about its patrons. Many people go here to see and be seen but, if you can over look posers, you will definitely enjoy your dining experience.
Smokers feel free to go, as the out door patio seems to be made for it.
The music, semi techno, semi Middle Eastern, is a draw for me, but never too loud as to distract from the ambiance. Do look out for the indoor ceilings, as it, along with the artwork, are two of my favorite things about the place.
As with all places in Adams Morgan, driver beware. Parking is almost always shite.

This is great if what you're looking for is a good light meal in a trendy setting. The cuisine is also something different.

Tuesdays are a good time to visit Meze because all bottles of wine are half-price. The food is rather bland (aka Zaytinya wannabe) but it's inexpensive and it's nice to sit outside in the front on a sunny day in Adams Morgan. The waitstaff tends to be friendlier than the barstaff.
