This was strictly a business lunch so I was not expecting anything fancy, but I was impressed with the setup. After being seated, we waited a good 10 minutes before our order was taken. The menu was ok, the descriptions of the food seemed outrageously discriptive, but hey what the heck. I ordered the caesar salad with shrimp however I was not at all impressed when it arrived. The lettuce was not at all cut-up and the cheese was settled at the bottom of the bowl. After a few bites, I had to stop eating and eat some of my lunch mates fries, which proved a good choice on her part. My wife raves about it so I guess I'll give it another try later as I seem to eat at a lot of restaurants during the week.

For a place that tries so hard to bring the "big city" NYC restaurant scene to DC, it fails miserably in that it isn't anything special at all. The steaks are standard fare and nothing on the menu or the table stands out as exceptional or different than anywhere else. For all of the commotion over the "popovers," they're just rolls on steroids.
The steaks themselves were plain and bland, nothing out of the ordinary for a grilled slab of meat.
The prices, which are right in line with the shi-shi NYC restaurant scene, are out of whack for the mediocre quality product that finds its way to your table.
On a positive note, the service was excellent and our waiter was very attentive and prompt.

I have only been once and it was several months ago, but it was a great experience. The popovers and pate served before the meal were amazing. The pate literally just melts on your tongue. I had short ribs, which were quite good, but I think the sides and dessert outshone the main course. In particular, the duck fat hash browns were decadent, with a creamy blue cheese sauce. My arteries hurt just thinking about it. The wine list was very good and we found several outstanding wines for decent prices. On the whole, BLT is not a place to go for a deal. It is quite expensive. But if you are celebrating or just ready to throw down some cash on a great meal, this is place certainly fits the bill.

I dined with a companion and ordered a rare Porterhouse for 2, over $70. It was served well-done by the oblivious waiter. When this was pointed out the waiter said he needed evidence for the chef, as if our word wasn't enough. We waited more than twice as long for a replacement steak than we did for the original, and were offered no apologies from the manager or incentive to come back. Ironically the wine list was excellent and far less overpriced than the dinner menu.

I dined at BLT Steak to celebrate my engagement right before Christmas. We were treated very well and when I told them the occasion, they brought champagne to the table, which was extremely thoughtful. The food was the best I've had in DC. Complimentary chicken liver pate and popovers were brought out at first, which were delicious. Normally I'm not a fan of pate but we ate the entire thing. The tuna tartare was phenomenal. For dinner we had a filet and a ribeye, with spinach and hen of the woods mushrooms as sides. By the end of the meal we were stuffed, but I really wanted a taste of what they had to offer for dessert. We split a crepe souffle, which had an amazing texture. The outside was prepared as creme brulee is, leaving a layer of caramelized sugar that's crackable and crunchy, and the inside was fluffy and light. It was drizzled with passion fruit sauce that complemented it perfectly.

The atmosphere was geared more towards energy and youth, which was perfect for us, because we are in our early 30's.

Overall I thought the meal was expensive but worth every penny. The ingredients and the preparation of the food was truly impressive. It was a really nice way to celebrate our upcoming nuptials. I highly recommend this place for an occasion celebration!

I came in to see what all the hype was about and I have to say, I was impressed! We did not have a reservation, but that did not stop us from being seated immediately. My co-workers are super carnivores, however I do not eat red meat...The Dover Sole was delectable and the Crepe Souffle was a piece of heaven! Should you visit make sure that you partake in a popover; I can make a meal out of just that. I will definitely be coming back.

I have to start this review by saying that I didn't eat steak, so maybe their steaks are really good. However, what we did get: fish (black sea bass and tuna), cesear salad, and oysters were BAD. The texture of the black sea bass was rubbery, the tuna had no taste, cheese overload on the salad, and the oysters were just fair. This is one of the worst meals I've eaten for the amount of money it cost. It came to $150 for 2 people, only 1 had a drink. Their saving grace is their popovers that come out before your meal. They're eggy and delicious. Hope this review helped.
