My mother and I had dinner at Kinkead's before we went to the Kennedy Center last weekend. I hadn't been there in years, but it was actually even better that I remembered! Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu, and he was very patient and helpful with my mother who is older and a bit hard of hearing. He helped us choose a lovely Sauvignon Blanc to go with our meal - I can't remember the label right now, but it was delicious, with a perfect acidity and fruit balance. I had the pepita crusted salmon, with shrimp and crabmeat in the sauce. It was just awesome. My mother had the cod with crab imperial which was also great. We shared strawberry ice cream for dessert, which is one of my mom's favorite desserts. It was a great experience overall. One plus to the restaurant is that they validate the parking in the garage under the building, which has an elevator up to the main level. Again, with my mother, this was a huge convenience. And free parking in DC on a Saturday night is always a nice bonus!

I have also eaten at David and Bob Kinkead’s other restaurant in Boston (Sibling Rivalry) and I was expecting the same level of originality and creativity in Kinkead’s menu, to which I was slightly under whelmed. The menu is a little overpriced for the quality of food but the lunch menu is a bit of a better value (although not much). I do really enjoy the food, especially the non-seafood options like the pumpkin ravioli, but I am not always sure it is worth the cost.

After wanting to go to Kinkead's for quite some time, I finally booked a reservation to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. I couldn't have made a worst choice. When we arrived, the restaurant was fairly busy but not crowded. Though we had made reservations, we were escorted to a table in a non-descript hallway that leads to the restrooms. There was no atmosphere or music, only a long parade of everyone in the restaurant passing our table on their way to the bathroom. We ordered items only from the "Kinkead's Classics" section of the menu. Many were delightful (especially the pepita crusted salmon) but not elaborate enough to justify the price. The service was poor and inattentive. If you're a lobbyist wanting to wine and dine, go to Kinkead's - you'll fit right in. If you're anyone else - stay away. "Overrated" doesn't' begin to describe Kinkead's.

Because this was a special occasion, I listened to other reviews I had read and called weeks in advance to request a table in the Shenandoah room. When we arrived, we were seated at a cozy, intimate booth in front of the fire and we we were handed menus personalized for the occasion. We partook in the tasting menu with wine pairings, which included four courses with selected wine accompaniments. The food was decadent, the wine sensational, and the service spot-on. Two hours of the most exquisite indulging for a very special occasion was worth the hefty price tag.

Colvin Run has become one of my and my husbands’ favorite “date night” restaurants. Every time we’ve been here the service and food have been consistently excellent. The restaurant is very low key (restrained lighting, lots of space between tables) so you can actually have a nice conversation

I've been meaning to go to Kinkead's for years, as it has a reputation for the best fish in DC. What a nightmare -- we were whinging about it for days afterwards. First the dining room was off the bar, cramped and noisey. The waiter was one of the in your face types, who repeated the same tired jokes to each party as they went over the menu, but then he got all the orders wrong -- delivering wine to a table of underagers nearby, the wrong food to another table, forgetting that we had already ordered and asking to take our orders again, and botching the check -- was he stupid or stoned? Doesn't matter. My fish was cook tolerably well, but I would have preferred a bit less done -- but it was impossible to tell what it tasted like (fresh? fishy?) as it was smothered with way too much vibrant flavors of artichoke, sundried tomatoes and briney olives. The portions were on the "supersize me" side -- I was hungry and not shy of devouring what's on my plate, but I couldn't finish. My friend's nut-crusted fish was also overwhelmed by the crust. What's the point of serving good fish if you bury it under toppings? A mediocre meal which was made into a terrible experience by a waiter-from-hell. Not again. Not at those prices. i can get equally good fish, if not better, with competent service at McCormick or Legal.

A friend took me here for my birthday. It is a great place for a special event. Our menus arrived with birthday wishes for me printed at the top. I was presented with a coffee mug filled with little cookies when we left. That said, given its location, I'll probably never go here again. There are just too many restaurants in the city that are better. We were a little disappointed that our entrees arrived before our cocktails. And both of us found our sauces on the fish much too heavy and salty. The desserts were good, though not very interesting. The decor is mostly shades of beige, though they gets lots of credit for not stacking the tables one on top of the other. I would recommend this place as a delightful way to treat someone for a special event, or if you happen to be in Tyson's Corner, but I will stick with Kinkead's in D.C.

Very disappointing! Having eaten at other Sala Thai in the area, I was excited to have move in our neighborhood. Perhaps they are still working out the "kinks" but the food was terrible! The drunken noodles portion was 1/2 of what is given in their other restaurants although it was the saving grace of the meal. The Woon Sei Gai soup was tastless as well as the sliced pork and broccoli. Unfortunately, we had this delivered so there was no sending it back! I will stick with Rice and Thai Tantic in the future.

Went here in Restaurant Week. Lots of starters, mains, and desserts to choose from. There was also a solid, if short, wine list with most bottles between $30 and $40. We picked a German riesling, which was excellent. I started with the fried Maryland green tomato with a crawfish remoulade. There was some pickled onion relish to go with it that didn't quite work. But the main dishes were excellent. I had the cod and my wife had the pork loin. The desserts were good too. Unlike many of the other top-tier places I've tried in various Restaurant Weeks, I would not mind committing big bucks to a regular meal here.

Another overrated place in DC. I have eaten there on 3 occasions. The first time, over 3 years ago, the food was fantastic. I have been back since and was really dissapointed. The food was just OK and not worth all the fuss. Too expensive for what it is.
Even the bread was exceptional. I did not have to wait for a table because I chose to sit at the bar.

Excellent seafood restaurant. The staff is very knowlegable about the menu and eager to assist. The bartenders are also great. This is clearly a superior restaurant and I would go back without any hesistation.

I love this restaurant! Definitely the best seafood in Washington. Forget about all those restaurants on the waterfront. Maybe they were good in their day, but upscale seafood is the way to go if you want to get good quality fish and shellfish! The place is beautiful, and if you have a birthday boy or girl in your party, they print up the menu special with that person's name, and present a take-home copy in a Kinkead's mug with little cookies! Try the dessert sampler...it's to die for!

Upscale DC dining at its finest. Everything was done so perfectly that I was in awe. Everyone in our party ordered something different: appetizers, soups, entrees and desserts. Each person said that each item was the best they had ever had. I don't know if we hit them on a great day or what but I've never been someplace with so many hard to please people and have everyone satisfied. Don't know how they could keep up this level of quality day in and day out but it was a meal for the ages.
