This place has great daily specials where you can try something new every day. The staff is very friendly and polite. You have to clean your own table and order at the cashier. The prices are on the high side for lunch but I feel good about the quality of food I get. I had the salmon pate in a pastry, which was very flavorful. The potatoes here are always crisp and tasty. When it is warm they have outdoor seating.

I keep coming back to this restaurant, to me it's European soul food. I feel like I'm getting my mother's cooking; the flavors blend just right, the portions leave me satisfied, the atmosphere invites me to sit back and relax. And even if I get picky and want to modify my meal, it's done with great care and served with a smile.
The place looks rather unassuming, but it adds all the more to the down-home feeling of grabbing a bite from your mom's kitchen.
And try to leave room for dessert - their Raspberry Tart is to die for!!!!!!

This Ballston deli advertises its specialization in Italian-Austrian cusine. The specials menu next to the register is worth a peek for the Austrian options available, which are not so notable on the published menu. The chicken in paprika cream sauce with spatzle (a type of pasta) was wonderful in flavor though the chicken was a bit overdone. The steak and cheese sandwich was determined to be "very good" by my dining partner. Remember to request the Austrian bread that will come free, if you ask for it. In an area where Italian options are plentiful, the Austrian selections are a very welcome change and I look forward to trying more of the menu.
