City Paper Review
Flexibility is a strength of this Friendship Heights sandwich shop (part of a small chain and close to the Mazza Gallerie cinema). The self-termed “unique delicatessen” offers a breakfast menu, salads, and an array of house-designed sandwiches supplemented by a choose-your-own-bread-and-fillings option. Sample a few menu items, and the results seem, at worst, to be reliable if unexceptional. The Natural—a sandwich that brings together spinach, turkey breast, tomatoes, and provolone cheese—doesn’t exactly hit it out of the park, but the turkey tastes good enough, and the Russian dressing adds a dash of flavor. The ham-and-swiss omelet (one of several omelet options)—is also good if not great: The portion is ample, and the slightly salty ham adds some zip, though the side of home fries is a little dull. Also filling is the Fifth Avenue sandwich; the blend of pastrami and mustard is stimulating, though not quite enough to make you double up on breath mints. For all its solid utilitarianism, Booeymonger edges ahead with a sandwich offering dubbed the Booey Wraps, in which feta, veggies, and subtly flavored chicken come stuffed into a spinach tortilla that carries a welcome aftertaste.

I have been going to Booey's for more than 15 years and it's always consistently good. Fresh ingredients, quick service, good range of choices (and cinnamon coffee--nice touch!). I usually go for the Tuna Turner, the Ace or the Patty Hearst (the latter two are turkey variations on a Reuben). Unique sandwiches and good sides, including macaroni salad and sesame noodles. A great place for a casual lunch.

When I craved dessert at 10pm and also wanted to do shopping you can't beat Booeymonger in Friendship Heights. The carrot cake is still fresh at that hour, more than I can say for many more expensive bakeries any day after 5pm.
Service is excellent and food is premium quality. Whatever meal you want you can't lose here.

Always excellent food and comfortable dining room. The sandwich menu and beverage options are extensive. They serve beer and wine and have excellent desserts. Order at the window, pay at the register, pick up when your name is called. Very effecient and friendly staff.
