The sushi here was nothing special. I got the cucumber & avocado roll, spicy tuna roll, and crispy salmon skin roll. Three rolls came no where near filling me up. My boyfriend enjoyed his Beef Tenderloin Tataki, calling it delicious and tender despite the small portion size. The most prominent feature of our visit was the hour wait to be served after we were seated. My tea grew cold while I waited for our appetizer. However, even our extreme hunger was not spice enough to make the sushi worth coming back for. Also, the host was snobbish about our lack of reservation although the dining room was half empty.

Sushi-Ko is perhaps improperly named, because some of the best things on the menu are indeed not sushi! If you're looking for fresh, well-sourced seafood, this is the place to go. In fact, folks rave about the sashimi and such.

True enough, the sashimi is fresh and tasty, but the true reason (in my honest opinion) to come here is for the wide range of amazing "small dishes." The grilled baby octopus at times melts in your mouth, with the clean mango sauce presenting a nice juxtaposition to the sweet glaze on the octopus.

The spicy green mussels presented a wonderful wasabi spice sauce, before the amazingly fresh mussels hit your palate. I ended up ordering several of these plates, tapas-style -- seared scallop & lobster, beef tenderloin, live scallop nigiri, and more. Amazing -- everything was a hit. I enjoyed this much more than the last time I came, when I got the chef's deluxe sashimi platter.

And of course, the pana cotta for dessert is a wonderful airy custard that absolutely melts in your mouth!

I am from LA and we are a bit picky about sushi. I dropped by this place, near where I now live, and had a lovely seaweed salad to start. But when I moved onto the yellowtail sashimi, it was awful. Fishy, fishy, two days old have been sitting in the fridge yucky. I will never return here for sushi, as I looked around as I was leaving, no one ate sushi, just rolls for the untrained tongue.

Good sushi, good miso soup, good beef tataki, good bento box, good service too...
I say good not great because definetely there are so many better options available for sushi restaurants(and cheaper too).
But in this area (Glover Park ), I think ... this sushi place is the best.
Good to have in your neighborhood kind of place, but it's not worth the trip if you live in other areas in the city.

I must say, I really like this place, but I think there is so much room for improvement! The ingredients are always fresh and the staff are always friendly and attentive. However, compared to other sushi restaurants where I have dined in other cities, it does not compare in terms of ambience and variety. Although the daily specials are a nice touch, I would like to see more to choose from. We always end up ordering the same thing when we go, which is not normal behavior for me in sushi restaurants! Also, the atmosphere is a little bland. Spice it up with some varied lighting and light, soft music. I've never eaten upstairs, so maybe I'm missing something!

Beautiful and tasty food. With as empty as the restaurant was the service was slow and inattentive. Plus there were unhappy looks on their faces from the moment we walked in the door with a toddler and a baby.

So if you aren't in a hurry and want truly beautiful Japanese food, give this restaurant a try.

Best sushi in DC, rivaling some that I've had on the West Coast. Koji is a master!

As a frequent regular to this neighborhood restaurant, I just can't get enough!

The menu contains an ample variety of appetizers, salads, cooked dishes, desserts but if you can reassess your ability to stomach raw fish, your chow experience will escalate from ordinary to fabulous by sampling their fresh and innovative nigiri sushi and sushi rolls.

Definitely start out with the Sushi-Ko salad with ginger dressing and request the special soft shell crab and avocado roll topped with a tangy sesame sauce, always an absolute must!

Even though you will be treated with a warm towlette upon entry and frequently sight the Secret Service accompanying one of Washingtons many politicos, in my opinion, their wait service is never grande, which is why I recommend carrying out your meal. All of the talent must be held up in the kitchen! The management is very flexible and will prepare your food while you have a glass of wine at the bar, shop for groceries, or exercise next door.
