I have been to this restaurant many times, and never had less than an amazing time. The food is really good, the ambiance perfect for either hanging out with friends or bringing a date. It is a friendly neighborhood environment, though unique enough to draw devotees from other parts of the city. Sports games are aired, though unobtrusively, and djs perform in the evenings.

OK, granted, we sat at the bar. But both items my friend ordered were terrible. The sauteed calimari consisted of tasteless rings of rubbery (and slightly off-smelling) squid, and the mozzerella and tomato salad was inedible--the colorless tomatoes and mozzerella slices were both FROZEN solid. Ugh. Food complaints aside, the bartender was very pleasant and efficient and he took the offending frigid salad off our bill, though he seemed unconcerned about our complaint. Perhaps it was not the first he has heard? Go for drinks, NOT for dinner.

I've had brunch here on many occasions and have always found the wait staff friendly and competent.

While I enjoy the Marx Cafe's brunches (the food and music is good, and there's never a wait), I won't be heading back any time soon. On a trip to the bathroom, I opened the door to find...well, you know...scattering all over.
Not only were the small portions lacking any significant character or appealing taste, but the waitstaff were unfriendly and sometimes even outright rude! I wouldn't go back if someone paid me!
