PETES A PIZZA
Pete’s is an Italian pizza place that uses organic and local food. They describe their pizza as revering the Italian food culture of freshness, quality and simplicity. It is a good place to go for a filling after school snack with the snack money your mom gave you.
The service is why it hasn’t gone out of business with all the new construction around it. The people at the register are enthusiastic and open to questions. You order and then sit at a table while they bring the food to you so you don’t end up waiting around.
The food is another reason why Pete’s hasn’t gone out of business. The pizza slices are huge and still warm. I love them because they are cheesy, saucy and not greasy or too hard. The root beer you can get comes out of a glass bottle and tastes like the old kind you can get from the Midwest. Or you could just get a fountain drink.
Even though the food is good I think it is a little over priced. Before you know it you don’t have any change to give to your mom.

I went in to Pete's and had a slice of their Edge of the Woods pizza which is amazing. The sliced eggplant on top is genius, I'd never had that as a topping before. My friend had the plain cheese which was great too, the sauce tasted like it was made from the freshest tomatoes. They have great selection of toppings for vegetarians and also a gluten free pizza option. Their beer and wine selection is pretty fancy, the even offer a gluten free beer. The location is great, right at the top of the Columbia Heights metro. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone who appreciates a good slice.
