We went here for restaurant week August 2009 dinner. There were many highlights in the meal, though nothing was amazing. But, nonetheless, it was good enough to make me want to return, especially to try some of the small plate options on their regular menu. For appetizers, I had the Warm Spinach Salad - it was really good: nicely-wilted spinach, yummy dressing, generous helping of feta and crispy onion garnish, and wild mushrooms. My companion had the onion soup, which he said was good, but needed more cheese. For entrees, I had the wild mushroom risotto - nice flavor, but could use more acid and the risotto was just a touch undercooked. My companion had the stuffed pork chop, which he enjoyed tremendously. For dessert, I had the red velvet cake - which was just okay, and my companion had the blueberry brown betty - which was also just okay. The very nice touch for Restaurant Week was the wine specials they were offering as well - $25 for either a white or red. We had the red - a spanish blend - which was quite nice, especially for the price.

My favorite restaurant in the city. Service staff can use a little work but the food is really amazing.

I went for lunch during Restaurant Week. I was pleased with what I had, but I don't think I would have been willing to pay full price for it. While I loved my salad -- strawberries, lettuces, goat cheese and sunflower seeds, the short ribs I ordered were slightly underseasoned and, although I asked for the little hotdogs that the reviews rave about, they were just ... little sausages. For $13. The restaurant is pretty, though, and the service was excellent. I just am not sure what the hoopla is all about.

I really liked the concept of PS7 but the service and value just were not there. My friend and I were seated right outside of the kitchen even though there were serveral other tables available. The kitchen had an electric door which made noise every time it opened and closed. The dining room was dark and the kitchen was really bright so when the door would open it was like a flashbulb went off. After a few requests and many minutes of waiting we were moved to another table. Unfortunately the server was absent. When he did come over there was little apology. Throughout the meal we felt ignored as we watched the next table experience excellent, attentive and gracious service. The food was ok. The taste was fine but there was no value. The point of a place like PS7 is to try more than one thing as different sized plates are in various price categories. The highlight of the meal was the tuna tartar. It was very well done, fresh and creative, but thats where my enjoyment ended. The duck plate, although in the mid price range on the menu was smaller than an appetizer. Some of the ingredients were left out and it was underwhelming in taste. I was disappointed because I usually love duck. My friend's portobello appetizer was pratically invisible but tasty. PS7 is a fairly new restaurant and perhaps there are still some kinks to work out but bad service in a place that upscale is unacceptable. The chef knows how to cook but a little more generosity is necessary. If the prices are separated into categories than the food size and presentation should reflect that. I usually never order dessert but since I was still hungry and the donuts came so highly recommended I order them. Frankly, Id rather have a Krispy Kreme. Next time I want small plates, Ill stick with one of my favorites in DC, Jaleo!

Went for boyfriend's birthday--it was a great dining experience. The server was helpful. The courses idea works perfectly and the food is executed very well! A little pricey, but definitely worth it. The drink/wine menu is also very extensive. I strongly recommend the Pork Belly dish! We are so glad we found a new place for celebrations!
