CAVA’s growth spurt continues after the homegrown company received $30 million in funding, paving the way for it to open 20 new restaurants this year. The latest news from the Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant is that it will take over the former ShopHouse space in Union Station by the end of the year. It will be located near Shake Shack and Roti.

Locally, H Street NE and Navy Yard locations have already been announced for 2017, and CEO Brett Schulman confirms there are plans for CAVA restaurants in New Jersey, Boston, and Connecticut. There area already CAVAs in New York and California.

CAVA allows customers to build salads, grain bowls, and pitas with an array of toppings from proteins like spicy lamb meatballs and dips like tzatziki and harissa to vegetables like radishes spiced with sumac and banana peppers pickled by Gordy’s Pickle Jar.
