Fotoweek DC at Studio Gallery To November 21

You’ll search in vain for an overarching theme in the Studio Gallery’s Fotoweek DC exhibit, but that needn’t overshadow the individual works. Antoine Sanfuentes, the deputy Washington bureau chief for NBC News, offers a meditative black-and-white tableau from Chad of a striped teapot, a foot, and a bowl. New York-based freelancer Willie Davis contributes some Egglestonian images of late-night revelers, while Iwan Bagus offers a portrait of an old Balinese woman surrounded by a towering collection of handbags. Ann Chwatsky provides a pair of stunning, dreamily understated, wide-format landscapes of Arkansas swampland. Then there’s Susan Hochbaum, who rounds out the show with a confection—literally—of lighthearted images that pair Parisian landmarks with thematically linked pastries.

THE EXHIBITION IS ON DISPLAY WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY, 1 P.M.-7 P.M., FRIDAY, 1 P.M.-8 P.M., AND SATURDAY 1 P.M.-6 P.M., TO NOV. 21 AT THE STUDIO GALLERY, 2108 R ST. NW. FREE. (202) 232-8734.
