Charlie Murphy describes himself as a “cerebral” comic. “If you into physicality and, like, pullin’ out of the booty, don’t come see me, ’cause I’m not your dude,” he said in an interview with UGO.com last spring. Case in point, Murphy claims to have decided to vote for Barack Obama after having a dream in which Obama legalized bitch-slapping. Too cerebral for you? Then you might prefer Murphy’s sketch-comedy series on Crackle.com. In one sketch, he conceives an imaginary restaurant called “Attitude,” where guests are repeatedly Tasered and beaten for no reason. In another, Murphy skewers homeland security hawks by suggesting that in the near future, people who object to airport security protocols will be—you guessed it—repeatedly Tasered and beaten for no reason. They’ll also be subjected to rectal cavity searches. But seriously, if you’re into “physicality” and “pullin’ out of the booty,” Murphy’s not your dude.
