RIP: A Remix Manifesto

Finally, somebody made a movie about copyright law. One starring the real lawyers, pundits, and computer geeks who are down there in the trenches, making revolutionary changes in the way we perceive…uh…fair use policy. That doesn’t sound very exciting, does it? But Brett Gaylor’s documentary RiP!: A Remix Manifesto makes the medicine go down easy. For every talking head spewing legalese, Gaylor throws in a provocative artist or musician—sample-crazy laptop artist Girl Talk and tropicália legend Gilberto Gil among them—who makes his arguments about the restructuring of U.S. copyright policy seem vital, interesting and, surprisingly, entertaining.
