Improper Conduct
Hamilton Center Elementary School
Nov. 29, 2004, 1:44 p.m.
A female program coordinator informed the Principal that a male teacher instructs the students to urinate in the classroom trashcan whenever they ask to use the restroom. Security stated that a Fifth District police officer responded and refused to submit his name and badge number. An Investigator is requested. Administrative action is pending at this time.
Incident No. 572
Corporal Punishment
Macfarland Middle School
Nov. 8, 2004, 3:10 p.m.
A female student reported to the Principal that while in the cafeteria, she asked a female food service worker for a cheeseburger. The food service worker replied “no” before throwing the empty pan nearly striking the student in the face, but missing. School-assigned Metropolitan Police Department [official] was informed. No report taken. It is unknown if the student’s parent was notified. A Watkins Investigator will be assigned to the case.
Incident No. 389
Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Ross Elementary School
Oct. 15, 2004, 8:16 a.m.
On Oct. 14, 2004, a male student was in the cafeteria when another male student stabbed him in the abdominal with a pencil, which resulted in broken skin. A female cafeteria employee intervened and escorted the student to the nurse’s suite. The nurse administered first aid. The student did not require [further] medical attention. The Principal escorted the [alleged attacker] to the main office. MPD was notified and responded. Security asked the Principal to hear the MPD information so that she could complete her report. The Principal replied “Go back outside. If they don’t like it, have them call me.” The Principal was referring to the Administrative staff on 3535 V Street N.E. The [alleged attacker] received a 5-day suspension. The other student received a 2-day suspension for throwing food in the cafeteria.
