Despite the old adage to not judge a book by its cover, I am fascinated at how evocative a book cover can be. I make each one of a kind book purse, digital book cover or paperback wallet from a discarded book, rescued from trash and obscurity. In my work, I capture the memories and feelings that the familiar covers provoke, while providing a wearable piece of art at the same time. I also want to challenge the viewer's relationship with books: are books loved for their content, or prized as fetishistic objects?
