Chow’s Supertaster Takes on Taco Bell’s Street-Food Inspired Tacos

Leave it to Chow's enterprising James Norton, he of the supertaster disposition, to tackle the latest fast-food controversy: Taco Bell's roll out this month of its Cantina Tacos line, which is the national chain's attempt to keep it real, man. The mega-food-service tacos are allegedly based on genuine Latin street food. The media backlash has [...]

NPR: Supertasters Headed for Heart Attacks?

That's one conclusion you could draw from NPR's report yesterday that informed us supertasters love salt. Really love salt. Penn State researchers discovered that: supertasters couldn't get enough [salt]. They choose higher-sodium foods than their counterparts. Chow.com’s Supertaster on Sam Adams’ Utopia Beer

Y&H loves Chow.com's supertaster James Norton, a foodie who knows how to straddle that fine line between pretentiousness and passion. He's like the Comic Book Guy without the superciliousness. Y&H has already featured videos with Norton sampling commercial ice cream toppings and baby food. This time the  supertaster takes on the world's most expensive beer, Samuel Adams' [...]

It tastes, Norton says, like someone "melted a piece of watermelon Hubba Bubba onto my ice cream."

Homer the Supertaster: “Help Me Mayonnaise”

Homer becomes a supertaster following an unfortunate act of gluttony on a carny midway. It's funny stuff, but my favorite moment comes in the second segment, when Homer realizes he must take responsibility for Bart and Lisa's failures in school. Homer turns to his own Popeye source of fuel and wisdom: a jar of mayonnaise.

Supertaster Puts His Palate to the Test on Baby Food

If you haven't watched some of Chow.com's Supertaster videos, you need to get yourself over there right now. (Click on the Supertaster link in the lower left corner.) This episode tackles the subject of baby food. The funniest response? When the taster samples Roundy's vegetable turkey dinner: "Wow, was that unpleasant!"
