Pastry and Tea Room Lady Camellia Now Open in Georgetown
Lady Camellia looks like a six-year-old's tea party fantasy. The pastry shop and tea room from Macaron Bee owners Debby and Han Kim opened on Valentine's Day but just started serving tea last week.
"A tea room has been our long dream," says Debby Kim. "We originally wanted to have something like this in Macaron Bee but the space is limited." She says they wanted to create an afternoon tea option that didn't involve an expensive hotel.
Located in the former Tuscany Cafe space, Lady Camellia offers a still-expanding variety of tea cakes, chocolates, croissants, scones, cupcakes, and, of course, macarons available for retail. If you sit down for tea, you can choose from several options that include a pot of tea accompanied by scones, tea sandwiches, and/or other pastries. Right now, there are five types of tea, but Kim says the collection will expand and she hopes to eventually create her own blends. Even the most expensive tea-for-two menu option is less than $30.
The 14-seat space is decorated in plenty of pink and gold. Kim says she wanted the place to feel like "a fairytale."
