Get Half-Price Food and Drinks at The Heights Before It Closes for Renovations
The Heights in Columbia Heights is closing for five days of renovations next week. But before the makeover begins, stop by on Sunday for an "everything must go" sale with half-off all food and drinks.
The restaurant will reopen the evening of Nov. 1 with an updated food and drink menu and a "warmer and more intimate feel," according to a press release. Chef Kerry Tate, who was recently hired from Slate Wine Bar, has been trying to incorporate more local ingredients, including produce from EatWell DC's farm in La Plata, Md. The new menu will include dishes like French fried oysters with jicama kimchi and a meyer lemon tartare sauce as well as maple-brined pork tenderloin, served in a cider-dijon pan sauce with roasted sweet potatoes and apples.
Mixologists Lisa Weatherhold and Keight Vient are also changing up the drink menu with an emphasis on "hand-made cocktails," "unique beers," and a new wine program.
To celebrate the reopening, The Heights will offer an all-night happy hour at the bar and in the new lounge area on Nov. 1. Then next weekend, the 80-seat patio will host a garden party with half price beer and wine from 2 p.m. to close.
