Japanese Rice Bowl Restaurant Donburi Coming to Adams Morgan

shutterstock_137240213A new restaurant called Donburi that serves nothing but donburi—Japanese rice bowls topped with meats, fish, and veggies—is on its way to Adams Morgan.

PoPville initially reported the news of the restaurant at 2438 18th St. NW, which is slated to open sometime next week. Owner James Jang tells Y&H this is his first restaurant in D.C., though he previously worked at a donburi restaurant in South Korea.

The restaurant has only 14 counter seats facing the kitchen. Jang says the menu will be very small, with seven or eight bowls topped with things like fried shrimp or sashimi salmon. Most dishes will be in the range of $10 to $12 with a drink, Jang says. There will be no alcohol.

Don katsu on top of rice is crispy unlike other japanese donburi place. Because chef only focuses on donburi, food is professionally prepared. It tastes like donburi I had in Japan. Their side sashimi is very fresh and tasty as well. This is definately to go place in DC.
