Diego Tex-Mex Restaurant Closes (For Now) After Two Weeks
Tex-Mex restaurant Diego had only been open on the corner of 14th and V streets NW for a little over two weeks, but already it's closed—at least temporarily.
"We were not happy with the service and the food, honestly, and we decided to shut it off," says co-owner Michael Askarinam. "We were doing very good business, but it wasn't to my satisfaction."
Askarinam says the chef, whose name he declined to share, "is not with us anymore... His food was not to our satisfaction."
Askarinam says he's finalizing a contract with another "very well-known chef" and decided to close the business until the new chef settles in. He would not specify exactly how long Diego will be closed but that it will likely be several weeks. He hopes to have a better idea of the timeline next week. In the interim, Askarinam says the rest of the staff was let go, but he hopes to bring some of them back when the restaurant reopens.
