Top Chef Masters Debuts Tonight With Two D.C. Restaurateurs

Season five of Bravo's Top Chef Masters premieres tonight at 10 p.m., and two chefs with D.C.-area restaurants—Bryan Voltaggio and Richard Sandoval—are competing for $100,000 for the charities of their choice. Even if you're so over all things Top Chef, there are some drink specials to be had at their restaurants' viewing parties tonight.

The festivities begin at 8 p.m. at all of Sandoval's local restaurants, which include Zengo, El Centro D.F., Masa 14, and La Sandia in Tysons Corner. Margaritas are $5 all night long in the viewing areas. The chef and restaurateur has more than 30 restaurants across the U.S., Europe, Mexico, and the Middle East and is competing for C-CAP (Careers through Culinary Arts Program).

Meanwhile, chef/owner Bryan Voltaggio, the first Top Chef alum to graduate to Top Chef Masters status, will host a viewing part at his Frederick, Md., restaurant Volt. Guests will receive complimentary snacks and drink specials from 9 to 11 p.m. on the patio. There will be a viewing of an online "Battle of the Sous Chefs" episode, where sous chefs battle to earn their "masters" immunity of disadvantages, at 9 p.m. before the main episode airs. Voltaggio's chef de cuisine Graeme Richie competes in that.

In addition to tonight's kick-off party, each Top Chef Masters episode will screen at all of Voltaggio's restaurants, including Volt, Family Meal, and Range, every Wednesday at 10 p.m. with drink specials. Voltaggio is competing to support Share Our Strength, which fights against childhood hunger.
