Absinthe-focused La Fée Verte, a speakeasy-style bar on the rooftop of Mova Lounge was initially supposed to open July 1 with a secret phone number that you had to text to make a reservation. But after continuing delays, it looks like that particular concept is no more.

Mova manager Rolando Ravelo, who was spearheading La Fée Verte, is now gone. New manager Korosh Yazdanpanah, who’s been on the job three weeks, says there will still be a new rooftop lounge, but it will probably not be called La Fée Verte and will not serve absinthe. “Absinthe isn’t an everyday drink,” Yazdanpanah explains. “And it’s a little too heavy to be drinking at 10 o’clock on a Wednesday night… There’s not as much variety to it as vodka or rum.”

Yazdanpanah says he is interested in keeping the exclusive reservation system, but details about what’s next are still being ironed out. He says he has no idea why the concept was changed. Y&H was not immediately able to reach the owner, who is based in Florida, at Mova Lounge’s Miami location.

Whatever replaces La Fée Verte, Yazdanpanah says he expects it to open in about two weeks. Stay tuned.
