Remixology: Make Us a Drink With Four Loko

Mystery Ingredient: Four Loko malt liquor
Bartender Response: “It’s really bad. It’s like coating my mouth,” Thrasher said after trying a sip of lemonade-flavored Four Loko. “I feel like I should shotgun it.”
What We Got: An electric lemonade with fluffy shaved ice, peach- and lavender-infused Four Loko, and a hint of bourbon.
How It Tasted: Drinking Four Loko is not for the uncourageous. It’s an overpowering ingredient, for sure, but the peach juice Thrasher valiantly added to the Four Loko syrup somehow held its own against the sickly sweet, alien-tasting lemonade. Cooking down some of that alcohol helped too—the 23.5 ounce can of Four Loko clocked in at 12-percent alcohol by volume.
Improv Points (1 to 5): 4. Peach and lavender made for a fresh combination, and the shaved ice is just plain fun. It’s a genteel take on an energy drink known as “blackout in a can.” Just in case Southern society matrons ever needed an excuse to drink Four Loko.
1 can Four Loko (23.5 ounces)
1 teaspoon lavender
Juice from 1 ripe peach
1 tablespoon sugar
1 ounces Four Roses Bourbon
ounces Massenez Creme de Peche
Simmer one can of Four Loko for five minutes, then add lavender, peach juice, and sugar. Continue simmering for five minutes, then allow mixture to cool, and strain.
Combine bourbon and peach liqueur with 2 ounces of Four Loko mixture. Stir, and pour into shaved ice. Garnish with peach slice.
