Police: Toki Underground Chef Attacked Ex-Girlfriend’s Fiancé

Toki Underground chef/owner Erik Bruner-Yang and his wife Seda Nak were arrested yesterday morning for assault and "attempted threats" against the fiancé of his ex-girlfriend. Washingtonian first reported the news this afternoon.

According to charging documents obtained by Y&H, Bruner-Yang's ex-girlfriend heard a knock on her door at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday. She told police that when she answered, Nak started yelling, saying, "What do you want to say now? What do you want to do now?" Nak then allegedly rushed into the house and pushed the ex-girlfriend. Hearing the commotion, the victim's fiancé came downstairs and shoved Nak out of the house and locked the door.

The charging documents go on to say that Nak then started kicking at the door and screaming. According to the fiancé, Nak and Bruner-Yang were allegedly screaming at the house saying, "I'll kill you, blah, blah, blah!" The fiancé then exited the house and asked Bruner-Yang and Nak to leave the property, at which point Bruner-Yang allegedly took a swing at him "with a closed fist." The fiancé said he tried to avoid the punch and was grazed on the to the top of his head. Nak then allegedly attempted to strike him. When he tried to push her back, the report says, Bruner-Yang jumped on his back and began to choke him, causing him to fall to the ground. Once he was on the ground, Nak allegedly began to punch and kick the fiancé "about the body" before she and Bruner-Yang fled the scene.

Bruner-Yang's ex-girlfriend sustained no injuries, the court records say, but her fiancé had "small abrasions to his right knee and toe from falling on the pavement." He refused medical treatment on the scene.

The court records also state that the ex-girlfriend believes Bruner-Yang and Nak came to the house over a Facebook post that she made in reference to Bruner-Yang and Nak's wedding earlier this month. The ex-girlfriend and Bruner-Yang lived together for three and a half years, the court records say, and have been separated for a year.

A call to Bruner-Yang went to voice mail. Toki Underground is open tonight.

Ha! Silly children. Great noodles though. Do you think they stayed up all night or woke up and started the fight after breakfast?

I USED to love Toki, but after this, I'l' reconsider supporting or encouraging my friends to support this place. I'll at least offer some smirks to him when I see him.
