Coming Soon: Caviar at Azur and Crepes at Table

It's a busy month for budding restaurateur Frederik de Pue: he's opening his second D.C. restaurant Azur in Penn Quarter on April 18 and launching brunch at his Shaw spot Table on April 20.

The menu is now online for contemporary European seafood restaurant Azur, located in the former Café Atlántico and Minibar building. The first-floor bar will offer snacks like uni toast, mini fish and chips, and sweet and sour fried squid, along with cocktails named after famous boats. (No word yet on whether the S.S. Minnow made the cut.) The dinner menu will feature mussels, clams, or maine lobster with a choice of four different broths as well as entrees like red mullet with new potatoes, flames, pickled ramps, and chorizo sauce. The third-floor counter that once belonged to Minibar will function as a six-seat raw bar with oysters, house-cured salmon, and caviar.

As for brunch at Table, de Pue will offer a prix-fixe menu with pastries for the table, a first course, and main courses for $34 (excluding tax and tip). Gelato and sides like soft scrambled eggs, bratwurst, and toasted brioche are extra. Among the brunch starters: warm duck salad and poached "laughing bird" shrimp with shaved fennel, avocado, and carrot sauce.  Mains range from grilled catfish to buckwheat crepes to glazed short ribs and eggs up. Take a look at the full menu below. It will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends.
