Right Proper Brewpub Seals Deal on Shaw Location
Right Proper will be located at 624 T St. NW, next to the Howard Theatre. The causal neighborhood restaurant and brewery will focus on fresh, inexpensive food and "yeast-forward" beer from head brewer Nathan Zeender.
Originally slated to open in spring of this year, the team is now planning to start service in October. They are currently looking for an assistant brewer to help Zeender craft the first set of six housemade beers on the small five-barrel brewing system. The draft list will also have two rotating guest taps and include oak barrel-aged beers.
According to Cheston, Right Proper will be open for lunch and dinner and have sandwiches and other quick fare available for carry-out. Also on the to-go menu will be growlers of fresh beer, thanks in part to the brewpub founders' work on getting District alcohol laws changed to allow them.

We’ll have a two-part beer program, standards and baroques. The standards will consist of beers that can be categorized into definitive historical beer styles. Any lover of craft beer will recognize these brews. The brewmaster will use his talents to put a unique twist on the different styles while still remaining true to the age-old brewing traditions that gave birth to them.
The baroques will consist entirely of barrel aged or barrel fermented beers. Beers of different flavor and aroma profiles will be blended to create unique products. Customers can also expect to find different versions of the same beer dry hopped, blended with fruit or with added herbs and spices.
