Art & Soul Closes Today for Renovations
Fresh off hosting the Chef's Ball this weekend, Art & Soul at The Liaison Capitol Hill is closing today through Feb. 18 for a makeover.
The renovations of celebrity chef Art Smith's restaurant aim to create "an indoor urban market feel." (Yes, farmhouse chic is still trendy.) Instead of carpet, herringbone wood flooring will be used throughout the restaurant, bar, and lobby. Free-standing tables will replace the banquettes, and new light fixtures, wall treatments, and graphics aim to give the space an outdoor feel. And just because one wall will have a sculpture made out of different types of beans doesn't mean a kindergarten class designed the space. The beans are supposed to be a nod to Art & Soul's Southern cooking.
The new look will be accompanied by new branding on everything from the menus to signage. Think hand-painted farm signs and traditional folk art, according to a press release. A new website will relaunch in late January.
If you're eager to be the first to see the changes, reservations are available for Feb. 25 and beyond via OpenTable or by calling (202) 393-7777.
