No Signs of Life at PS7′s

Rumors of PS7's closure have been circulating for weeks. At the moment, the Penn Quarter restaurant appears to be uninhabited.

A sign on the door during lunch today read "PS7's restaurant is closed for administrative duties." Y&H readers sent in photos of the same sign yesterday evening. Tweets of a previous sign on the door reveal the restaurant was closed Nov. 19 to 24. Y&H glimpsed through the window at the dark dining room today and saw chairs and tables askew and no tablecloths or settings.

Y&H reached out to chef and owner Peter Smith to find out if the closure is permanent. We haven't heard back, and will update this story if and when we do.

Dining Bisnow first reported word of PS7's closing on Nov. 9, then took down the post, which was nevertheless picked up by Eater. Then, a newly released cookbook called Washington, DC Chef's Table ominously referred to the restaurant as "closed but not forgotten." The book's author said a rep for the restaurant told her the restaurant would be closing just before the book went to print.

Y&H—and PS7's fans, undoubtedly—would love to get some answers.

UPDATE: PS7's OpenTable page is also offline.
