After some mixed signals about whether it would close, British gastropub Againn is officially gone for good.

Prince of Petworth first reported rumors that the restaurant would shutter two weeks ago, but General Manager Romero Santos quickly followed up to say Againn was not closing. At that time, owner Mark Weiss told Y&H that the restaurant’s investors had not yet made a decision on closing but that “things have not been well for a while.” (He could not immediately be reached for comment this morning.)

Eater now brings to our attention a note posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page:

It is with regret that we announce the closure of AGAINN. After weeks of deliberation with our investors we have decided to close. We want to thank the great city of Washington for its support over the last three years. We have been honored to serve all who have come into AGAINN. We will miss all of the wonderful people in this city!

The restaurant experienced a number of chef shuffles over its three years at 11th Street and New York Avenue NW. Opening chef Wes Morton left to helm the kitchen at Art & Soul in early 2011. He was followed by chef Mike Sindoni, who jumped ship within a year.

The restaurant’s Rockville location also closed in May 2011 after less than a year in business.
