Hey MAURA, unless you are allergic to rain, it's NOT unsafe outside. I'd say only 20% of bars in DC are closed. Nobody is being unsafe. And NOBODY is being forced to go to work against their will. And by the way,it's reactionary simpletons like you that spread panic and hysteria over a little wind and rain that is the real problem here. Not hard working Americans just trying to earn a living by going to work. Or normal people that just want to have a drink and some conversation. I'm sure you are at home right now with FEMA on speed dial, your 200 bottled waters and emergency survival kit huddling under a blanket trembling with fear. Oh the horror. We are all gonna die! Do the world a favor, get off your computer and take your medicine. The rest of us are trying to have fun and go about our normal lives. Stop raining on our parade.

I am sure the wind is going to pick up and there will be dangerous conditions later; but so far I think its great that businesses have been open early and I have been out all day. Nothing more than an normal rainstorm as of now. Hope you got out while you could.

I'm sure all of these places are being responsible and not making their workers drive to work. Many have even said that only their staff who live in walking distance are coming in. I salute the places that are open, wish them an extremely productive afternoon/evening and hope that everyone stays safe and get's cozy whether that's at your local drinking hole or at home, Cheers.

Crazy. Unless you live right next door to one of these spots, don't go out. It's already bad and will get a lot worse.
