Amsterdam Falafel emailed the 'hood earlier and said they would be open.

A lot of places are dark on Mondays anyway, so this works out well for them (and their staff who may have to travel).

  2. #2

Tryst and the Diner were both open when I walked by this morning. Not sure how these restaurant bar employees are getting to work today unless they drive. Be safe folks

  3. #3

    Dangerously Delicious serves beer?

  4. #4

Not a ton of options in Columbia Heights - which is fine, I don't really want to go out anyways. I'd feel kinda awful going anyways, as I really would rather not make people work in this crap.

  5. #5

    Chinatown Coffee's open today

  6. #6

    Pleasant Pops open til 4!!

  7. #7

Trio on 17th was open when I walked by this morning.

  8. #8

Yes, DDP *does* serve beer. Sadly, Sticky Fingers doesn't.

  9. #9

    Sollys opens at 4 pm

  10. #10

Nellie's sports bar will be open at five with regular happy hour specials til 8

  11. #11

Lou's is open at 5 p.m. with Hurricane shooters, and Monday Night football specials-pitchers of Miller Lite and buckets of Coors Lite 16 oz cans for $13 and $19 respectively.

  12. #12

Crazy. Unless you live right next door to one of these spots, don't go out. It's already bad and will get a lot worse.

  13. #13

These places should be ashamed of themselves for making their employees risk their safety to report to work. Seriously makes me question wanting to give any of them my business in the future.

  14. #14

    Anywhere in Mt. Pleasant open?

  15. #15

I'm sure all of these places are being responsible and not making their workers drive to work. Many have even said that only their staff who live in walking distance are coming in. I salute the places that are open, wish them an extremely productive afternoon/evening and hope that everyone stays safe and get's cozy whether that's at your local drinking hole or at home, Cheers.

  16. #16

P.s. does anyone who if anywhere in Silver Spring is open?

  17. #17

    woot @ red derby now.

  18. #18

The bar is open at Boundary Road, no food though.

  19. #19

Just stay home. Its not that serious

  20. #20

I am sure the wind is going to pick up and there will be dangerous conditions later; but so far I think its great that businesses have been open early and I have been out all day. Nothing more than an normal rainstorm as of now. Hope you got out while you could.

Hey MAURA, unless you are allergic to rain, it's NOT unsafe outside. I'd say only 20% of bars in DC are closed. Nobody is being unsafe. And NOBODY is being forced to go to work against their will. And by the way,it's reactionary simpletons like you that spread panic and hysteria over a little wind and rain that is the real problem here. Not hard working Americans just trying to earn a living by going to work. Or normal people that just want to have a drink and some conversation. I'm sure you are at home right now with FEMA on speed dial, your 200 bottled waters and emergency survival kit huddling under a blanket trembling with fear. Oh the horror. We are all gonna die! Do the world a favor, get off your computer and take your medicine. The rest of us are trying to have fun and go about our normal lives. Stop raining on our parade.
