Taylor Gourmet Coming to Former Meatballs Space in Penn Quarter

The Penn Quarter space that once housed Michel Richard's Meatballs (or was it?) has a new tenant: Taylor Gourmet.

Co-owner Casey Patten says the local hoagie chain just began demolition at 624 E St. NW and doesn't yet have a timeline for opening. It will be Taylor's fifth D.C. location (with others in Merrifield, Va., and Bethesda).

The space has been vacant since June, when Meatballs closed its doors following negative reviews and a lot of controversy over its ownership.

Great news! I always have a hard time grabbing a bite in this area, especially when Iron Horse and Rocket Bar don't actually serve food, so another Taylor would be awesome.

Fwiw, I thought meatballs was fine for what it was.

    Thanks for sharing.
