“Island-Style” Restaurant Coming to Columbia Heights

The owners of U Street-area carry-out destination The Greek Spot are opening a new restaurant and bar in Columbia Heights.

Owner Greg Kavadias says the location will be around Sherman Avenue and Harvard Street NW. He declined to give the exact address of the yet-unnamed restaurant.

He's also vague about exactly what kind of food the neighborhood spot will serve, but it definitely won't be Greek. "We're going a whole opposite direction. I'll tell you it is island-style food," Kavadias says, but not Caribbean island or Greek island food.

He's aiming to open in the spring. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.

    I'm guessing British Island?

I'm thinking either fast-casual Island of Dr. Moreau or upscale leper colony.

Looks great! I'll have to give it a try, whatever island the food is from. :)
