What To Eat Tonight: Pho Bo Tai Nam at Montserrat House

"Pho U," a planned Vietnamese pop-up restaurant at Montserrat House, was abruptly called off a few weeks back. For good reason, too—the chef, Toki Underground's Thang Le, had tragically died. Tonight, the pho goes on, with Marvin chefs James Claudio and Brendan L’Etoile at the helm. Menu highlights include crispy spring rolls ($7), garlic chicken wings ($8), char-grilled pork with vermicelli ($10) and pho bo tai nam, a special Vietnamese beef noodle soup ($9). Service begins at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday seatings are also available. No reservations needed. Proceeds will be donated to Le's family.

Coming up: Meatball specials galore on Friday—it's National Meatball Day, after all. On Saturday, Urbana chef John Critchley teaches cheese-making and, later, Eastern Market hosts the "Alchemy of Great Taste" event, with fare from Trusty's and Granville Moore's.
