What To Eat (& Drink) Today: Free Mezcal Cocktails at Oyamel
Tonight, Oyamel kicks-off its fifth annual Tequila & Mezcal Festival with complimentary cocktails designed to demonstrate the versatility of agave-based spirits. The evening's boozy program, titled “Everything is Better with Mezcal,” runs from 4 to 6 p.m. If the free drinks make you hungry, the restaurant is also offering an array of antojitos served exclusively at the bar, including crispy roasted garbanzo beans and spicy orange chicken wings, ranging from $6 to $14. Various four-course mezcal and tequila-themed dinners, priced at $90 per person, are also planned throughout the two-week festival.
Another boozy festival going on tonight: ChurchKey beer director Greg Engert is showcasing a collection of saisons during a celebration of farmhouse ales, titled "Saison d'Etre," at his noted brewhound haven on 14th Street NW.
Coming up: forget the three martini lunch. You can sample 10 wines for $50 as part of the three-course prix fixe lunch special at Smith & Wollensky running all this week—it is, after all, National Wine Week.
And, on Wednesday, Smoke & Barrel hosts an event pairing a trio of meat plates with beer from local producer 3 Stars Brewing and whiskey from Copper Fox Distillery.
All in all, a pretty boozy week ahead—even for Washington.
