CityEats Snags Another Exclusive: Book Now at H Street’s Atlas Room
Upstart online reservations site CityEats has inked another exclusive deal with a D.C. restaurant. It's now the only place in cyberspace to book a table at H Street's Atlas Room. (The site currently handles online reservations at Graffiato and Toki Underground.) Previously, the only way to snag a resy at chef-owner Matt Cordes' cozy 28-seat eatery was by phone. Atlas Room general manager Mark Medley tells Y&H the new system is "very chef and restaurateur friendly." But, perhaps more importantly from a business perspective, "they don't hit you with the hammer of the Open Table approach," Medley says. He's referring to the hefty fees that OpenTable charges restaurateurs to utilize its service. On its web site, Atlas Room explicitly states that Open Table is "not economically or logistically feasible" for a restaurant of its modest size. You can begin using City Eats now for reservations at Atlas Room starting Mar. 1 and beyond.
