Mike Isabella Pairs Tequila With Octopus Tacos at Pop-Up Bandolero Preview

Tickets are now on sale for Graffiato chef Mike Isabella's pop-up preview of his forthcoming Georgetown eatery Bandolero. Isabella tells the Post the pop-up concept “gives us the opportunity to test out some of our food and train my staff”—pretty much the same reason that restaurants hold a "soft" opening, as the former Top Chef contestant explained in last week's "Answers Issue" of Washington City Paper. Deal site LivingSocial is hosting the four-night, five-course extravaganza at its building on F Street NW and drops some hints about the menu below:

Classic dips like guacamole and sikil pak (made with pumpkin seeds) will share menu space with tacos stuffed with octopus, suckling pig, and crispy yucca, as well [Isabella's] interpretation of fajitas, taquitos, and flautas.

The price is $119 per person (tax and gratuity included). Reserve your seat here.

and...of course it's sold out already. in less than a day. five small plates for $119 (only $23.80 per tiny dish), and some drinks. is there any chance that anyone appearing on top chef is not going to pack them in, and be covered by the food blogs? if i was a young chef today, i'd concentrate on getting on a TV first and then a restaurant, not the other way around.

I don't disagree with your TV-first idea, Tomaj.
