Wot Time Is It? Ethiopian Eatery Dukem Tries to Stay Open 24 Hours

U Street tibs and fitfit temple Dukem (City Paper readers' pick for "Best Ethiopian Restaurant 2011") will make its case next week to stay open around the clock, neighborhood blog Prince of Petworth reports. According to a placard posted in the window, a hearing is scheduled for Aug. 22 before the District's Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. The restaurant's petition simply begs the question: Is it ever too late for spongy flat-bread and spicy lamb stew?

I think it is a great idea. I used to go to work that way at 6:00am. How nice it would have been to pick up lunch, or heck, who said you can't have lamb for breakfast? More folks work late and around the clock than most people realize.
