Young and Hungry

Last Week’s Leftovers: Truffle Pop, Bacon Jelly, Chèvre Ravioli

Dishes We Dug: Pan-popped popcorn with truffle oil and garlic at The Reef; St. Andre grilled cheese with homegrown tomato and bacon marmalade at One Lounge; spicy little meatballs with goat cheese agnolotti, tomato fondue and basil at Proof.

Dishes We Didn't: Nopal tacos (pictured) at El Centro D.F. The green strips of cactus taste like bland green beans.

Most Perplexing Act of Backpedaling After a Splashy Grand Opening: The boldly provocatively artworks at Sax restaurant and lounge are boldly removed after only two weeks.

Most Honorable Mention of an Honorable Councilmember on a Restaurant Menu: "The Jim Graham," a plate of "[s]ucculent, wild caught salmon" sauteed with onions and peppers and served with your choice of sides, at Ma-Ma's Southern Cuisine. What, no bowtie pasta?

So many people ask me how to discribe the Saint Andre Grill Cheese. I could never think of a word to describe it, until you said this sandwich is “decadent.” You were right on the numbers, thanks for the adjective. It was great to serve you.
