Heads Up: Oyamel’s Tequila Festival Is Coming Up Next Month

Attention tequila and mezcal fans: Mark your calendars for Oyamel's fourth-annual Tequila and Mezcal Festival, which is coming up next month, March 14-27. From a press release:

Oyamel will also be offering guests the opportunity to learn about and sample Mexico’s famous spirit through complimentary tastings led by the restaurant’s knowledgeable staff and talented guests including Ron Cooper, David Suro, Marko Karakasevic and Julio Bermejo. A special menu crafted by Head Chef Joe Raffa incorporating the spirits, will also be available.

A special cocktail list is planned, with drinks ranging in price from $11 to $16. That may sound pricey to some, but we aren't talking about the kind of tequila that came from a plastic bottle and gave you a hangover back in college. This is the good stuff. There will be complimentary tequila tastings during the two-week festival from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Oyamel is the only restaurant in D.C.—and one of only a handful in the United States—to have secured a tough-to-get Agave De Oro certification from the Tequila Regulatory Council of Mexico, thanks to its wide selection and integration of the spirit into its food and drink program.
